Swatch shows ok on my inner arm
I had to try hard to get this Tarte Maneater Satin Blush to work, which kind of bummed me out because I wanted it to.
It's got a great texture and a gorgeous but subtle scent. It blends in easily and looks natural and not cakey on skin, even with several coats.
But that brings me to my problem with the color I ordered, Pink Beige. I have fair, cool skin with a lot of pink in my face naturally. I could get this to show in a swatch on the underside of my arm, but it didn't want to show on my actual cheeks.
I first applied it as in the instructions, three dots along the cheekbone. That's how I usually apply a more pigmented cheek stain or liquid/cream blushes. That had no effect. I literally couldn't see any difference between the side I'd done and the side I hadn't.
Also, it said "cheek plumper," so I was anticipating some exuberant and potentially painful irritation and inflation of my cheeks but...nada.
I finally put on layer after layer until the color finally showed up. It had a nice glow to it and didn't look bad, though the color was still pretty muted and a little on the warm side.
I'm kind of baffled as to who would suit this color. It's a little too neutral for a cool and fair and too light (I imagine) for a darker skin tone. I can envision it working well for a natural redhead, and that's very specific.
I would gladly try this formulation again with a more vibrant shade, but I'll be skipping this one in favor of my regular cheek options.
