VipHoney Women's Plus Size High Waist Straight Leg Jeans ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wide legs, nice length, waist problematic, but overall flattering & comfy

Based on the images of the model in the listing, I was prepared to hate these VipHoney Women's Plus Size High Waist Straight Leg Jeans. The listing photos make them look like high-water flares, and no shade to anyone who rocks that look like the model does, but that is not for me.

But then I tried them on, and they're a much more flattering and realistic straight-leg, almost wide-leg style. Plus the length reaches my shoes, and I'm 5’8”, so that's always a plus! I'll just have to be extra cautious not to throw them in the dryer.

But trying them on revealed their real flaw: the lack of structure and sculpting in the waist area means that any flab there is set loose and almost emphasized. You'd hope jeans would kind of tuck that in, but no. You can see from my side picture that it's not that the size I got is too big. If anything, they were too small. I got a 3X and they were a little iffy to get zipped though stretched out as I wore them, in true modern-jeans fashion. I'm 240 lbs and kind of in between sizes so really wasn't surprised to have a weird fit, but from the reviews, it looks like I'm not the only one. The pocket fabric is pulling on my pair, suggesting tightness in the top area, and then: my big old front behind just hanging out for all to see. Plus, even though overall the plus sizing is a heck of a lot better than some brands, they do ride a little higher in front than back, suggesting a patterning error.

So I wasn't even looking forward to wearing them…and then I did. And I really liked them. Once I was wearing actual clothes and shoes and going out instead of critiquing myself in the mirror, I felt like they were fine. Comfortable, casual but classy, even flattering. I really do like the width of the legs and the nice length on them. The color wash is basic but not objectionable. The pockets are nice and deep (for once, ladies!!).

I debated between 4 and 5 stars for that reason but decided on 4 because there are still obvious flaws if you ARE critiquing yourself in a mirror. Or if you want a snatched look with a crop top, which is not my intention for myself.

I don't understand the listing photos at all, which seem to be from a different jeans universe, and the jeans need the sizing to be more consistent and perhaps given a slightly thicker fabric to hold in the rolls. But they do fit plus sizes well enough and feel nice on, so I'll continue wearing these happily.

Up top is... problematic

This listing photo is surely not the same jeans?!
