These Oneyus 8 Pack Vacuum Bags for Travel work easily to remove the extra air from clothes and other bulky items. They're sized perfectly for a suitcase but would also work for storing clothes, linens, and stuffed animals at home. 

The pump works fast to draw out the air. It doesn't have a battery so needs to be plugged in. At the time of purchase, the listing called the pump rechargeable so that should be changed for clarity. The kit includes cords to hook the pump to USB-C or -A, and one of the cables is conveniently attached so you can't lose it. The pump is averagely loud; probably not best for a 5 a.m. wakeup call in a shared hostel but not a big deal in a regular hotel room.

There are 4 smaller bags and 4 larger ones in the kit. Use the included clips to snap on and seal the bag before pumping. Draw the clip back and forth several times to ensure a good seal. Don't overfill the bags or they won't stay shut; about 80 percent is a good maximum.
