This JoyCat Science Paper Circuit Kit for Kids is a really cute STEM card kit with bright, playful artwork and a variety of projects to choose from, so I wish it functioned better. Everything you need is included in the box, which makes it feel gift-ready, and it’s an engaging concept for science-curious kids that would theoretically work well as a group activity in a classroom or homeschool co-op with some guidance.

That said, it's extremely frustrating for even an adult to get the circuits to work. The instructions are lacking and labels non-existent. The conductive copper tape is quite fiddly. It wrinkles easily and needs to lie very flat to complete the circuit, which can be frustrating for younger users. This is a project that will require adult assistance and a lot of patience to get everything aligned correctly.
