I’m using this Shuigu XLR-to-3.5mm cable to run a full-size XLR microphone straight into a DSLR, and it does exactly what I needed. It’s a simple way to upgrade camera audio for recording YouTube videos without buying a mixer or special camera mic.

The unbalanced 1/8" connection is exactly what cameras expect, so the mic works right away once plugged in. The right-angle 3.5mm plug is surprisingly helpful. It stays out of the way on the camera body and doesn’t put strain on the port while recording.

The quality is good for the price. For typical YouTube videos, the signal is solid and noise-free over this compact length. The locking tab clicks firmly into standard XLR mics, and there’s no wobble. The cable is sturdy but flexible

Be aware that unbalanced cables are meant for dynamic mics or self-powered condensers, not phantom-powered studio mics. You'll need to pay more for a sophisticated setup.

Overall, if you want to use a real XLR microphone to upgrade your DSLR’s audio, this little cable solves the whole problem cleanly and affordably. It works exactly as advertised.
